Fire Officer I pre-course assignments

There are 3 pre-course assignments to complete:

  1. Watch the 15-minute online leadership video, “Stanley McChrystal: Listen, learn … then lead.”

  2. Obtain a copy of your department's current organization chart and copy of duties and responsibilities. This is the first step towards completing job performance requirement (JPR) #10 for Fire Officer I certification with the Colorado Division of Fire Safety.

  3. Select and complete one of the following assignment sheets corresponding to the CDFS Fire Officer I JPRs:
    1. JPR Sheet #5— Assignment Sheet 15-1 Respond to Scenarios About Community Needs
    2. JPR Sheet # 6— Assignment Sheet 15-2, Respond to Scenarios About Concerns of Citizens
    3. JPR Sheet # 7 — Assignment Sheet 9-1, Apply the Customer Service Concept to a Citizen Inquiry
    4. JPR Sheet #8 — Assignment Sheet 9-2, Given a Scenario, Recommend Changes to an Existing Policy or Implement a New Department Policy
    5. JPR Sheet #9 — Assignment Sheet 9-3, Prepare a Budget Request for a Specific Fire Service Need

You are not expected to complete the entire JPR, just the assignment sheet, which typically involves reading a handful of pages from Fire and Emergency Services Company Officer, 4th ed. and answering 3 or 4 pages of questions.
